Winters in the Washington, DC and Baltimore area can be tough. For those who are homeless or fall into a lower income bracket, winters are even more difficult. Staying warm during this season can seem like an impossible job. But thankfully, there are many charities and organizations seeking winter item donations to deliver to these people.

This year, consider donating a coat or another winter item to one of these organizations below.

Coat Drives Near Me in the Washington, DC Area

Thrive DC

This year, Thrive DC is collecting a variety of both new and used winter items. The organization is looking for new or gently used coats, hats, scarves, blankets and sleeping bags. Donations of new socks, underwear and thermals are also in a high demand. Due to the limited space, Thrive DC is not collecting light jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts or other clothes during the Coat Drive.

The National Center for Children and Families

The National Center for Children and Families is seeking new or used winter clothing. The organization is collecting boots, coats, gloves, hats, long underwear, mittens, scarves, snow pants and warm sweaters. This year, infant and children’s winter clothing is in particular high demand. If you are unable to donate winter items, consider making a monetary donation or volunteering at Dr. C’s Boutique.
