Saint Patrick lived in the fifth century. He was born of a wealthy family in Roman Britain but was later kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave. After a few years, Saint Patrick escaped, but later returned to Ireland tell them about God. Saint Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. It wasn’t until the ninth or tenth century when people started celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on the anniversary of his death, March 17th.
