This year has been full of unprecedented changes and a lot of uncertainty that has impacted everyone in different ways. This includes college students that returned back to campus this fall. With social distancing guidelines and regulations in place, the college experience has vastly changed this year. Luckily, there are still some safer ways to enjoy your time on campus.

5 Social Distancing Activities for College Students

With the coronavirus still lingering it may be hard to find safer ways to spend time with your friends and fellow classmates. Here are some activities to do while social distancing on campus:

  1. Host a Zoom Game Night. A great way to interact with your friends and classmates while keeping a safe distance apart is by hosting a Zoom game night. This is exactly what it sounds like, playing games with your friends over a video call. You can choose any game you like and coordinate a time to have everyone dial in for a safe, entertaining evening.
  2. Have a Paint Date over FaceTime. This is an opportunity to show off your creative side. Plan a night with a friend or classmate where you connect over Facetime and paint a picture on a canvas. Sites like YouTube have free painting tutorials you can follow online. You can also simply paint whatever design you want or make it a competition and try to paint pictures of each other.
  3. See a Drive-In Movie with Friends. When you go to the drive-in you have a chance to get some fresh air and social distance while watching a classic film on the big screen. Encourage your friends to park their car next to yours, six feet apart, and you can take in the movie together.
  4. Take a Socially Distanced Hike. It’s always good to take in some fresh air any chance you can, especially after all of the quarantining you’ve done this year. Going for a hike outdoors is a great way to socially distance, exercise and spend time with a friend.
  5. Have a Picnic on Campus. A simple yet fun way to spend time with friends and fellow classmates is to have a picnic outdoors on the campus green. Simply pack up some of your favorite snacks and sit outside, six feet apart, to enjoy a picnic with friends.
