Self Storage Used as Artist Studios

Certain self storage facilities provide specially designed units for band practice/music studios, actual small businesses such as bike shops or dance studios   and artist studios. Some storage facilities are converting storage units to attract musicians and artists by installing electricity, insulation, sky lights, glass doors and plumbing. In fact, a storage facility in Richmond, California, Bridge Storage and Art Center converted their storage units into an artist community where they have monthly art shows and exhibits by their tenants. Why would a self storage unit be a great choice for an artist studio? A self storage facility is a pretty quiet place, which is perfect for an artist to create. It is also a solitary place, where you might not see your neighbors for months (or ever). However, based on the clientele of the storage facility, it can also be a great place to draw inspiration from! The storage units are safe and secure and a perfect place to house equipment and artwork and of course, the rent is just right! ezStorage provides artists a number of 1st floor artist studios at its Brentwood/Hyattsville location. The ezStorage Brentwood facility is located in the heart of The Gateway Arts District in Prince George’s County, Maryland, just north of Washington D.C. The artist studios come in different sizes depending on the need of the artist. There is electricity in the studios and the artists can access the studios anytime day or night with the individualized gate access code. The studios are rented under lease agreements via the Arts District Authority. Of course, adjacent to and above the artist studios is a state-of-the-art ezStorage facility. The Gateway Arts and Entertainment District   is shared between the four municipalities of Brentwood, North Brentwood, Hyattsville and Mount Rainier over a 3 mile area. The project was launched in 2001 to stimulate economic development along the Route One/Rhode Island Ave corridor. The area has artist studios, galleries, theaters, home, cafes and restaurants. Currently there are 100’s of artists living and working in the district. There are daily events showcasing the work of different artists. ezStorage is very proud to be a part of this thriving cultural district! Stop by the Brentwood/Hyattsville location to see how we can help in your storage needs and perhaps, visit an “artist in residence”
