Now it is time to head out to the many holiday arts and crafts fairs in the area to find that perfect gift for your family or friends.

Holiday Craft Shows and Markets in Maryland

Kris Kringle Christmas Market

The Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata, Maryland is hosting the 2015 Kris Kringle Christmas Market on December 11th and 12th. The family-friendly event is modeled after festive German markets. There will be local handmade arts and crafts, holiday light displays, children’s activities, entertainment, shopping and much more. Admission is just $1.00 or free with a donation of one non-perishable food item to the Southern Maryland Food Bank.

MICA Art Market

The Maryland Institute College of Art alumni is hosting the 2015 MICA Art Market from December 9th to 12th at Brown Center on the MICA campus in Baltimore. Get one of a kind gifts of art made by over 275 MICA students, faculty, staff or alumni. There will be fine art and handmade objects sold at the market including jewelry, illustrations, paintings, prints, posters, sculptures, mosaics, stations, t-shirts, ceramics, book arts, toys and wrapping paper. Visitors can talk one-on-one with artists and designers about their work. Portions of proceeds of the event goes to MICA scholarships. Admission is free.

Holiday Heap from Charm City Mafia

Charm City Mafia presents the 2015 Holiday Heap at St. John’s Church at 2640 St. Paul Street in Baltimore on Saturday, December 12th from 10am to 5pm. Shop from a variety of local artisans and vendors for unique holiday gifts including paper goods, clothing, jewelry, teas and coffees and accessories. Charm City Craft Mafia is comprised of 13 independent craft business owners who live in Baltimore. They host two juried art shows per year, promote arts-related events, workshops and fund-raising events in the Baltimore area.

Baltimore Christmas Market

Baltimore’s Christmas Village is open almost daily through December 27th at West Shore Park at the Inner Harbor. The market is an indoor and outdoor holiday market modeled after holiday markets in Germany. There are over 60 vendors selling traditional European crafts, arts, and jewelry and holiday gifts. There is a food court to pick up your favorite sweets, drinks and food plus live entertainment and events every weekend. Admission is free during the weekdays, however a fee is charged during the weekends.

Holiday Craft Shows and Markets in Northern Virginia

Sugarloaf Craft Festival

The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival will be taking place at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia December 11th to 13th.  The arts and crafts show will feature over 300 regional and national artisans showcasing and selling their creations including pottery, sculpture, glass, jewelry, fashion, home décor, furniture, and home accessories. The artists will also participate in interactive demonstrations showing visitors how they create their work in wheel thrown pottery, wood carving, broom making and stone sculpture. There will also be live music and children’s entertainment throughout the show.

Washington D.C. Holiday Market

The Downtown Holiday Market in Washington D.C.  opened November 27th and runs to December 23rd on the sidewalk of F Street between 7th and 8th Streets in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. The show runs daily from noon to 8pm and features over 150 exhibitors and artisans of fine art, jewelry, pottery, clothing, photography, and more. There will also be vendors with festive local snacks and treats, musicians offering seasonal entertainment and much more.
