While Earth Day officially occurs every year on April 22nd, you don’t have to wait until then to celebrate. All month long, both Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA offer a variety of Earth Day events—from educational seminars and fun entertainment to opportunities for you to dig in and help make a positive change in our environment. If you’re looking to get involved this Earth Day, consider spending the day at one of these events!
On Thursday April 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., come to an Earth Day celebration at the Mess Hall! This annual event will feature food and drinks from sustainable and local food enthusiasts. Don’t miss out!
Saturday April 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Smithsonian will be hosting an event to celebrate conservation success stories. This event will feature fun activities, demonstrations, hands-on learning and information on how you can help to protect the planet.
Make Earth Day a day of community service by helping out with the Earth Day Clean Up & Celebration! This event will take place on Saturday, April 21st, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and include clean-up efforts at five locations in the Washington, DC area. This event qualifies for community service credits for students.
On Sunday, April 22nd from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., join Woodchuck USA in celebrating Earth Day on the Capital Front Lawn! This event will feature, food, drinks and remarks by the Woodchuck CEO, Ben VandenWhmelenberg. Woodchuck has helped to plant over 1,000,000 trees across the world, and if you register online, they will ship you a tree to plant at home!
Celebrate Earth Day this year at the Alexandria Earth Day Festival! This year is the 25th anniversary of this festival. The festival will kick off Saturday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. and run until 2:00 p.m. the same day. The theme of the festival will be Local Action, Global Impact.
