While it feels like summer has just begun, the 4th of July will be here before you know it! And, right now is a great time to start planning how you want to spend your Independence Day. Lucky for you, there are many exciting activities and events all throughout the Washington, DC area to choose from. Check out these 4th of July events in the Washington, DC area!
On the 4th of July, attend the National Independence Day Parade. The parade will take place along 7th and 17th street and run from 11:45 am until at 2:00 pm. The parade will include drum corps, military servicemen and women and floats. Visitors are advised to arrive as early as possible in order to get a good view of the parade.
A Capitol Fourth begins at 8 pm on the 4th of July and will be broadcasted live on PBS for at-home viewers. The event will be hosted by John Stamos and feature many award-winning performers and musicians, including Jimmy Buffet, The Beach Boys, Pentatonix, The Temptations, Luke Combs, Lauren Alaina, Joshua Bell and the National Symphony Orchestra.
On the 4th of July from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, honor our first President at An American Celebration on Mount Vernon. This event will feature military re-enactments, cannons and day-time fireworks.
On the 4th of July at 11:05 am, the Washington Nationals will be playing the Red Sox at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. The early start time of this game will even allow you to experience other 4th of July events in DC.
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is an annual festival taking place on the National Mall from June 27th-July 1st and from July 4th-July 8th. This year, the focus is on the Armenian and Catalonian cultures. The festival will feature a marketplace, international foods and the Armenian and Catalonia heritage.
