The PGA Tour is coming to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia. The Quicken Loans National Tournament opens for practice rounds July 28th. The actual tournament starts Thursday, July 30th and runs to Sunday, August 2nd. The Quicken Loans National has a purse of over $6.7 million and the winner can receive over $1.3 million. The tournament is part of the Fed Ex Cup , which is a season long tournament where tour players earn points to see who will win the championship at the end of the regular PGA season.
The 2015 Quicken Loans National is one of the premiere stops on the PGA Tour. The tournament raises funds for the Tiger Woods Foundation and local charities while also paying tribute to members of the armed forces. Tiger Woods is the host of the PGA Quicken Loans Tournament and is supposed to be appearing in the tournament where 120 players will compete for the coveted Quicken Loans National title. Players expected to take part in the tournament include 2014 champion, Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker, Bill Haas, Vijay Singh, K. J Choi, Ernie Els, and many other top PGA tour players.
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia is playing host for the first time to the Quicken Loans Golf Tournament. The Robert Trent Jones Golf Club opened in 1991 and hosted four PGA Presidents Cup tournaments. Renowned golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones, spotted the land for the golf club while doing an aerial survey for another project. The course is 7,385 yards and a par 71. Lake Manassas is visible from every hole of the course with nine holes running adjacent to the lake.
The 2015 Quicken Loans Golf Tournament is a major fund raising event for the Tiger Woods Foundation. The organization helps to give college access to underserved youth. The organization sponsors the Earl Woods scholarship program and has two Tiger Woods Learning Centers, for grades 5-12, campuses in Washington D.C. as well as campuses across the country. The armed forces are also honored during the PGA Quicken Loans National. The Tiger Woods Foundation in conjunction with Lockheed Martin is distributing free tickets to military personnel within the immediate Washington D.C. area. During the tournament, there are a few different ways to celebrate our armed forces: there is a special military viewing pavilion for military personnel only as well as a USO Activity Zone located near the main entrance.
