Loyola University(link is external) of Maryland is a private Roman Catholic Jesuit university located in Baltimore. Loyola College of Maryland was originally established in 1852 by John Early and members of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It is the 9th oldest Jesuit run college in the United States. The first campus for the college was based in two townhouses in downtown Baltimore. The college moved to the current North Baltimore campus in 1922 and has slowly been expanding ever since. The university is comprised of 3 schools: Loyola College of Arts & Sciences, Loyola School of Education and the Sellinger School of Business and Management. The name was changed to Loyola University of Maryland in 2008. Currently, there are over 6,000 students with 4,400 undergrad and 1900 graduate students.
Loyola University of Maryland is located in North Baltimore on North Charles Street. There are also smaller graduate centers in Timonium and Columbia, Maryland. The 79 acre main campus has a mixture of collegiate gothic and modern architecture including the Humanities Center originally built in 1895.
