The first year of college is full of new experiences, challenges and adjustments. Two major challenges that a new student has to overcome are learning to live in close quarters with not only one, but sometimes multiple roommates while trying to fit all of their belongings into the small shared space. Residence hall rooms are usually very small with limited storage space. Students have to be very creative in storing school items like binders and books, clothing, and every day accessories. Goucher College students should consider renting a self storage unit to place additional items, such as duplicate electronics or appliances, linens, clothing and kitchenware that they don’t have room for in their dorms. A self storage unit is a terrific year-round student storage solution. It is also a great storage solution for Goucher College students and faculty that are participating in a study abroad program. Most self storage facilities, including ezStorage, offer month-to-month rentals that are perfect for a college student’s budget. Students are encouraged to combine courses from different departments to create their own major programs.
The campus of Goucher College is set on 287 acres close to downtown Towson. The campus is a mixture of new and old buildings and just recently announced a plan to create residential villages for students and faculty. The original campus buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007 due to the design of grouping buildings together in informational zones based on their functions. Currently, there are 6 residence halls. First year students live in Stimson Hall, a traditional 2-3 per room dormitory, while upperclassmen live in the other residence halls.
