George Washington University has 3 campuses in the Washington D.C. area. The main campus is in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington D.C. near the Kennedy Center and embassies. There are ten different schools or colleges within the university including the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, Elliott School of International Affairs, School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration to just name a few. The Mount Vernon Campus was formerly Mount Vernon College for Women and today is fully integrated into George Washington University with six resident halls, a library and a student athletic complex. The Virginia Science and Technology campus is primarily used for research and some graduate study program. The Foggy Bottom campus is 43 acres with mixture of classical and modern architecture. George Washington University owns much of the property in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood and leases buildings in the area to such tenants as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The Foggy Bottom campus contains most of the resident halls for George Washington University students. There are currently 17 different resident halls on campus with more under construction. University Yard is the main open space and the “heart” of the Foggy Bottom campus.
