Self Storage FAQs

What is my first step? 

Use our convenient Find Storage search box to find the ezStorage nearest you. Our Size Guide will help you choose the unit that is the perfect size for your needs. Then all you have to do is complete the no-obligation reservation process (online or by phone) and your self storage unit will be ready when you are.

What are my storage options? 

Our standard unit sizes range from 5’x5’ (approx. size of a small closet) to 10’x30’ (approx. size of a standard two-car garage) with many options in between. Also, many of our locations offer climate controlled units as well as non-climate controlled units. It's ez to pick a size and feature that works for you. Simply use our Size Guide to find the right size or if you prefer, call 877-GO-STORE and speak with one of our storage experts. They love to help.

Do you offer boat / RV / vehicle parking? 

Yes, many of our locations offer spaces that can accommodate your boat or RV. Additionally, smaller vehicles such as motor bikes, scooters, and motor cycles can be stored inside. You simply need to drain all fuel and fluids before you store.

What if I select the wrong size unit? 

Don't worry. On your initial visit, in addition to demonstrating the facility's various security features that protect your valuables, our storage experts will show you your unit and make sure that it meets your storage needs. If you need to make a change then or at a later date, it’s ez. And with month-to-month rental agreements, you can conveniently increase or decrease your unit size at any time (subject to availability).

What does climate-controlled mean? 

At most of our ezStorage locations, we offer special climate-controlled storage units that provide a constant temperature range.

What are your security features? 

Our security features include computerized gate access, individual door alarms, video surveillance systems and security fencing. Each person storing with us selects a unique Gate Access Code known only to them (or anyone they choose to give it to). Additionally, each unit is individually alarmed. Should someone ever open a unit without authorization, an alarm activates. Visit our features page for more details on secure storage.

Am I renting the storage unit month-to-month or am I on a long term lease? 

All of our rental agreements are month-to-month. You rent with us only as long as you need the space.

When can I access my unit? 

You have access to your unit 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 6 AM to 9 PM at most locations. Please refer to the location details of your ezStorage location for gate access hours.

What are your office hours? 

For your convenience, our offices are open Monday through Sunday. Please refer to the location details of your ezStorage location for office hours.

What do I need to bring with me when I come in to rent a unit? 

You will need one form of current federal or state issued identification with a photograph and signature on it, such as your driver's license, a phone number where we can reach you if needed, as well as one alternate address that is different from your primary address.

Do you provide locks? 

Yes, you can purchase a new, sealed lock at any one of our facilities. No one other than you has a key to that lock. If you would prefer to bring your own lock at time of rental, you are welcome to do so.

Does anyone else have access to my unit? 

You alone control access to your storage unit, unless YOU choose to give someone else access. If you do give someone else access to your unit, it’s important that you provide us their names.

How do I get my belongings to my space? 

ezStorage has two types of buildings - garden style and multi-story. Garden style buildings are usually all on one level and offer the convenience of drive-up access. Our multi-story buildings have a large covered loading/unloading lobby with wide hallways and large freight elevators. At our multi-story buildings, we offer the use of large, easy-to-use complementary push carts which can fit just about anything. Our multi-story buildings allow you to move your belongings while protecting them from the elements.

Do you provide moving equipment such as push carts? 

Yes. You’ll find plenty of free, easy-to-use loading carts that will make moving your belongings ez. The only thing we ask is that you put them back when you are done using them.

Does your facility accommodate large moving trucks and tractor-trailers? 

Yes, most of our facilities can handle even the largest tractor-trailers.

How much notice do I need to give you before moving out? 

Simply put - none. Of course, we would love you to let us know when you'll be leaving but we realize this isn't always possible. Just remove your lock when you are done clearing out your space and stop by our office on your way out to let us know you've vacated your unit. This will allow us to make sure you do not incur any unnecessary rental charges.

Do you sell storage and moving supplies such as boxes and tape? 

All ezStorage locations sell quality boxes, tape, newsprint paper and other packing supplies.

Billing for Storage Help

Is there a security deposit? 

No. There is no security deposit on a storage unit.

When is my rent due? 

Your rent is due before the first of each month.

Will I receive a monthly invoice? 

Only business customers receive invoices upon request. All other customers simply pay monthly the way they would for an apartment.

How can I pay my bill? 

  • Enroll in AutoPay at time of rental - on a monthly basis, ezStorage will automatically charge your credit card for you. To take advantage of this service, please enroll in person at your storage location.
  • Pay online using our customer portal - simply register online and pay your bill or even elect Autopay for added convenience. ezStorage accepts VISA®, MasterCard®, Discover®, or American Express®.
  • Pay by phone - ezStorage accepts credit card payments over the phone. Simply call your storage facility or 877-GO-STORE and follow the instructions on the phone. Please note that you will need to know the zip code of your storage location and your unit number to make a payment.
  • Pay by mail - Simply put your payment in an envelope and mail it to your location. Please make sure to put your unit number on your check or money order.
  • Pay in person - drop by your ezStorage and pay by cash, check or credit card (VISA®, MasterCard®, Discover®, or American Express®).

Environmental Questions

Is ezStorage dedicated to the "green" movement? 

ezStorage is dedicated to the growing "green" movement in construction.

Our Charles Village building in Baltimore, Maryland is a fully climate-controlled self storage facility and our first LEED certified building. The Charles Village project rehabilitated an older existing structure to a state-of-the-art self storage facility having much less impact on the environment. Our fully climate-controlled Elkridge facility, a Gold LEED certified building, reflects our continued dedication to the “green” movement.

LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a certification program of the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED has a rating system for new buildings constructed to have less impact on the environment and offer a comfortable workplace for employees.

All future ezStorage locations will also be LEED certified.
